
The Porterville Fire Department Regional Training Facility sits on approximately five acres directly behind Fire Station Two, at 500 N. Newcomb. The facility includes a three-story training tower and 5000 sq. ft. of classroom space. The training building, completed in 2009, has two classrooms with seating for 75 and 35 students. Each classroom contains the latest in audio-visual equipment
The facility hosts the Porterville College, California State Fire Marshal Accredited Firefighter I Academy each fall as well as other CSFM and NWCG certificated courses. Typical courses offered are the CSFM Driver Operator, Fire Officer, and Chief Officer courses as well as NWCG Wildland Fire Behavior. Available soon are FSTEP Low Angle Rope Rescue and Fire Control 3B.
