English Language & Literacy Intensive Program at
The Margaret J. Slattery Children’s Library

Objective: To improve English reading & writing skills for students attending Santa Fe Elementary.  Activities include storytelling, educational games and homework assistance.  A program designed to promote the enjoyment of reading & writing.

How it Works: The California Library Literacy Services provides grant funds to public libraries to support the E.L.L.I. Program.  The Library staff works with Santa Fe School administrators who refer “At Risk” children from non-English speaking homes.  Santa Fe School focuses on Kindergarten and 1st grade students.

A partnership with the Y.E.S. after school program allows us to serve 40 students.
