Sports Leagues & Youth Programs

We have revamped our programs in an effort to follow local and state guidance for creating a safe environment during COVID-19.

City Pool

The pool is open 7 days a week!  In an effort to comply with local and state guidance for creating a safe environment, several modifications will be in place, including:

  • Limited capacity
  • No swim lessons
  • Masks required for activities outside of the water
  • Rec swim hours staggered to allow for regular disinfecting
  • Reservations highly encouraged

Parks

  • The parks remain open, but gatherings of more than 10 people are still prohibited.
  • Golf Course, Dog Park, OHV Park, tennis courts at Zalud Park were authorized for reopening at the May 5 Council meeting.
  • Park amenities remain closed including picnic shelters, playgrounds, skate park and basketball courts.
  • Gates at the Sports Complex are locked to prevent the gatherings of leagues and group sports.

Due to the State's restrictions on large gatherings, the following summer events have been cancelled.

Now Registering for Summer Day Camp

We're back!  And we have missed you!  We are proud to announce pre-registration for our Summer Day Camp.  We have re-imagined and revamped our program to put together a low-ratio day camp that follows the guidance issued by the California Department of Public Health related to childcare and day camps during COVID-19.  The camp will feature games, crafts, and even private visits to the City Pool- all with modifications in place to practice safe recreation.

Facilities Update

At their May 5 council meeting, Porterville City Council authorized the reopening of the golf course, dog park, and tennis courts starting May 7.  The facilities will each have new safety guidelines in place to allow for social distancing and safe recreation practices during COVID-19. COVID-19 Notice

With the announcement that Tulare County has had its first confirmed case of the coronavirus (COVID-19) and under the guidance of state and local health authorities, all non-essential services provided by Porterville Parks & Leisure have be suspended until further notice. This includes recreation activities, special events, and sports leagues that were scheduled to occur during the month of March. Read More
