If you are looking for a league where your child can learn the fundamentals without the pressures of winning and losing, this is the league for you. With our non-competitive philosophy, children concentrate on learning and having fun. No scores or standings are kept. This keeps the atmosphere much more relaxed and enjoyable for all. Parks and Leisure Services prides itself on endorsing the six pillars of Character Counts (citizenship, trustworthiness, respect, fairness, caring and responsibility.
Register on the first day and receive $5 off. Receive an additional $5 off if you sign up to be a head coach. Each additional family member receives $5 off. If you miss the first day of registration you may still sign up as long as space permits. You may register at the Heritage Center, 256 E. Orange Ave. weekdays 8:00am-5:30pm. DO NOT WAIT TOO LONG TO REGISTER AS ALL OF OUR LEAGUES ALWAYS FILL TO CAPACITY.

This exceptionally diversified program is based on confidence, teamwork, leadership, and integrity. Components in health & nutrition, violence prevention and education. Ages 5-18.
Registration will be held in the P & L Services Department located inside of City Hall on Main Street, and will remain open until all divisions are filled.

Bring your pole and bait to the stocked Murry Park Pond. Age divisions: 2-7, 8-15. Child must be able to reel in their own fish. Trophies to the top 3 in each age division plus a trophy for the big fish of the day

Jr. Pirates Track & Field Club

Back for its 3rd year, the 'Jr Pirates' have practice twice a week in preparation for various meets around the county. Ages 1st-8th grade. Cost - $30 includes uniform, practices, and City meet admission.
Punt Pass & Kick Competition
Date TBA @ The Heritage Center
National competition in which participants get one punt, one pass, and one kick. Scores are based on distance and accuracy. Winners have the opportunity to advance to the sectional, state and national competitions.

Veteran's Day Run 
November 11, 2010
This event features a 10K Run as well as a 5K run, 5K walk and a Kid’s Fun Run. The race begins at 7:00 a.m. in front of City Hall (291 N. Main Street) Downtown Porterville.
Awards will be given to 1st through 3rd place in each age category for running and walking events. All participants will receive an official race day shirt.
The entry fee is $15 for runners and $10 for walkers pre-registered and $18 for runners and $13 for walkers day of the race. Day of registration is from 5:45 – 6:30 a.m. The Kid’s Fun Run is FREE!
