City ManagerCity of Porterville September 2012 Employee of the Month Cody Clem Fire Department
Cody began his career with the City of Porterville Fire Department in June 2006, when he was hired as a Reserve Firefighter. In the summer of 2008 he worked as a seasonal wildland firefighter with CalFire, thereafter rejoining Porterville Fire Department in the fall of 2008. He was hired as a temporary firefighter in November 2008 for a 1000-hour, limited term position, which led to him being selected as a full-time firefighter with the department in July of 2010. Cody is known for his boundless energy, positive spirit, and his desire to complete any task quickly and in an efficient manner. In his free time, Cody is often involved in community service events, such as Shave the Brave, Fill the Boot, and the Porterville Firefighters Association’s Chili Cook-off. He also volunteers as a percussion instructor at Granite Hills High School. When asked to describe his favorite aspect of his job, Cody says that it is a pleasure to serve the community that has given him so much, and he enjoys the camaraderie of working with his captain and fellow shift members.
