The mission of the Planning Division is to maintain the integrity of the General Plan and aid in the development of a community that benefits all residents, while balancing public and private interests. The City utilizes planning to ensure that land and resources are used in rational, efficient, and fair ways that are both socially and economically desirable in order to promote a higher quality of life for its residents. The Planning Division is responsible for developing Long Range Planning policies and reviewing Current Planning applications for adherence to the Porterville Development Ordinance within the City of Porterville Planning Area.

Project Review Committee (PRC)
PRC provides a preliminary meeting with developers and applicants to evaluate project proposals. The Project Review Committee is made up representatives from each City Department and meets weekly to review certain projects prior to formal submittal.

Project Announcement: City of Porterville Development Code Update
The City of Porterville has initiated a comprehensive update to the City’s Development Code. Goals of the update are to create a more user-friendly document, streamline project review, and eliminate inconsistency in the regulations. The update will also ensure the City’s regulations are consistent with State law.
