The City of Porterville sponsors the Porterville Chamber’s “First Friday Coffee” event at the end of each year. The State of the City Presentation provided at the event serves to give an update regarding City of Porterville progress regarding projects and community matters. Outstanding Business Honorees are also recognized at the event. 

2023
The 2023 State of the City event took place at Eagle Mountain Casino on Friday, December 1, 2023. The event was livestreamed to give community members an opportunity to view the presentation virtually. 

The 2023 Outstanding Business Honorees recognized at this year's event were Happy Hearts Children's Center, Nanlangka Teppankyaki & Sushi Bar and Hergesheimer's Donut Factory.

2022
The 2022 State of the City took place at Galaxy Theater on Friday, December 2, 2022. Mayor Martha A. Flores delivered the annual State of the City Address. Outstanding Business Honorees were Merle Stone Chevrolet, Imperial Ambulance, and ZeroNox, Inc.
