The City of Porterville encourages non-profit organizations to utilize public property for community events. Festivals, parades, street fairs, and other events, all contribute to the City’s rich diversity and provide many hours of family fun and entertainment. Any non-profit organization that wishes to sponsor an event that is open to the community and will utilize a public park, right-of-way or building, or requires street closures must secure a permit. This requires the completion of a Community Civic Event Application no less than 30 days prior to the event in order to obtain City Council approval. City services such as barricades, Police protection, street sweeping and refuse pickup, are available upon request. Any fees will be billed separately.

The application includes a vendor list, street closure map and outside amplifier permit if applicable to your event. Organizations should also be aware that the City will require a Certificate of Insurance naming the City of Porterville, as an additional insured. Once the Application has been completed and returned to the City, it will be routed to all City departments for approval and noted for any special conditions. The Application is then placed on the Consent Calendar for approval at the next City Council meeting. In order to facilitate timely approval by City Council, please submit your Community Civic Event Application at least 60 days prior to your event.

All approved Community Civic  Events will also be posted on the city's Events Calendar to promote these special activities.

Organizations may download and print the application form and return the completed application to the Business License window at City Hall, 291 N. Main Street, Porterville, CA 93257. We have included a checklist to help administer the application process. Questions? Section 15-20(e) of the City’s Municipal Code has all the details and requirements. You may also call 559.782.7457. We will be glad to help you with your event permit process!
