How to Obtain a Copy of a Fire Report?

Call or email Porterville Fire Department at (559) 782-7526 and request a “Fire Incident Report”. You will need to provide your name, address of the incident, date the incident occurred, and an Incident Report Number if you have one.

Report picked up at Fire Station #1 – 40 W. Cleveland Ave.

  • $.50 / page over 5 pages

Report Mailed

  • $10.00 / 1-5 pages
  • $.50 / page over 5 pages

Fire Incident Reports are normally available 3 to 5 working days after the incident.

Certain information is not made publicly available due to confidentiality and privacy rights. Some examples of information which is not publicly available include:

Information, which is confidential or which would hamper an investigation, or jeopardize the rights and safety of anyone, shall not be released to the public.

Individuals requesting confidential information shall be directed to obtain an order of the Court (i.e., subpoena) and submit it through the Porterville Fire Department.

Confidential information includes, but is not limited to the following:

  • Medical information specific to an individual. More information regarding a patient's privacy rights (Heath Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 - HIPAA).
  • Names and addresses of juveniles without written permission of a parent or guardian.
  • Names of personnel involved in an ongoing department investigation. Addresses, telephone numbers, or work shift schedule of City employees.
