Mission Statement

The members of the Porterville Police Department are committed to the safety and security of the community while providing quality service with excellence, honesty, and integrity.

Police officers are generally assigned to the Patrol or Investigations/Services Division. Within the Divisions are many specialty assignments including K-9 Officer, Motorcycle Officer, Field Training Officer, Officer-in-Charge, Special Investigations Unit Detective, Narcotics Investigations Unit Detective, General Investigations Unit Detective, School Resource Officer, Hostage Negotiation Team Member, and SWAT Team Member. These assignments provide our officers with opportunities for expanded training and expertise. Assignments to one of these specialties may be full-time or an adjunct to their primary assignment.

The Porterville Police Department prides itself in being a service-oriented agency using a Community Oriented Policing Mode.  Department members are encouraged to seek new and innovative ways to provide high quality law enforcement services to our community.
