Porterville Airport has aviation, business and industrial opportunities located on the field and adjacent to it in the Airport Business Park and the West Street Business Park. Tule River Aero Industries has recently completed a 34,000 square feet project consisting of hangar area, offices and a lounge. Additional lease lots are available on site for FBO development. The normal lease rate is $0.31 per square foot per year.
The new Forest Service Sequoia National Forest Headquarters is located in the Airport Business Park. The Park is located next to Hope Avenue and the Entrance to the Porterville Airport. Edison Corporation located their lay down yard in the West Street Business park. They are scheduled to construct a major new service center on the site.
On the Airport, many developed sites are available for hangar development. The Airport will work with those wishing to develop economical facilities, including the installation of crew quarters. The normal lease rate is $0.31 per square foot per year. The hangar sites are master planned and have easy taxiway and apron access. Porterville has an active program for airport improvement and maintenance. A regular comment received by the Airport Staff is how well the airport is maintained. Around the terminal area, extensive grass is maintained. For those wishing a fly-in, the grass may be reserved in advance for camping.
The Airport's Capital Improvement plan included major electrical work in 2010. The work involved the replacement of all taxiway lighting with LEDs. The 2011 project, rehabilitation of Runway 12-30 is now complete and boasts a new grooved asphalt overlay, shoulder backing, new pavement markings and striping. A fog seal completes the project. Other near-term projects include the redevelopment of an abandoned runway into a taxiway which will serve aviation businesses. The goal of the Airport is to expand commercial operations at the Airport including potentially air ambulance operations and air cargo. Currently the Airport has a non-precision approach, but is being evaluated for an LVP approach by the California Division of Aviation and the FAA.

West Street Industrial Park has up to 34 acres located on the west side of the airport (parcel may be sized and configured to meet project needs.) The zoning for the location is Industrial. The site is ready for immediate construction, utilities are located nearby, and approximately one mile to Highway 65 and one mile south of Highway 190.
