What is transPORT?
TransPORT is an on-demand accessible transit service provided by Porterville Transit. Have you ever used Uber, Lyft, or an app to book a ride for travel? If you have, you’re already familiar with an on-demand or microtransit service. Instead of relying on fixed-route transit at fixed times, transPORT allows you to request travel as-needed from Porterville Transit. If transPort is available in your area, transPORT will show up as an available vehicle when you open the Uber app. transPORT is an on-demand, curb-to-curb shuttle service in the Porterville and Strathmore communities. Within the zone, rides are only $3.00 one-way and offered seven days a week as part of the pilot program. Additionally, if you are traveling to or from the Porterville Transit Center, rides are only $2.00 one-way.
Monday - Friday (Weekdays) - 6:00 am to 11:00 pm
Saturday - Sunday (Weekends) - 8:00 am to 11:00 pm
Where Can I Take transPORT?
TransPORT can take you anywhere within the zone - restaurants, shopping centers, movies, medical offices, and existing bus stops. You decide where you want to go and when.
Once you book a transPORT:
- If you are staying in the zone, transPORT will take you curb-to-curb to your destination.
- If you intend to travel outside of transPORT's service area, you can use transPORT to travel to the downtown transit center where you will connect with the existing bus system or the nearest bus stop to your destination.
