The City designates funding each year to construct bus pull-outs in highly-impacted areas of the City.  Most Porterville Transit bus stops are regular stops along the various streets, some with shelters and benches, others just designated with transit bus stop signs.  However, as the City continues to grow, other bus stop areas require additional right-of-way to accommodate the boarding and disembarking of transit passengers, and require the full construction of a bus pull-out.

The City's two newest bus pull-outs, together with shelters and benches, have just been completed on the north side of Morton Avenue.  One is just west of the intersection of Morton Avenue and Prospect Street, and the other is just east of the intersection of Morton Avenue and Newcomb Street.  These bus stops are located in highly-traveled areas requiring additional street right-of-way for increased safety.

As with all Transit-related projects, funding is provided through the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) Section 5307 Transit program, and Local Transportation Funds (LTF).

As further areas are identified and cleared for construction of bus pull-outs, the City will continue to make bus stop improvements as funding permits.
