BENEFITS

Police Officer Salary: $5,115- $6,242 per month (base)

Retirement: Public Employees' Retirement System (PERS), 2.7%@57 for new members, 2%@50 for classic members (entered law enforcement prior to January 1, 2013).

Health/Dental/Vision Insurance: Employees pay 2% of base salary towards healthcare.

Life Insurance: City pays for $100,000 Life and AD&D Insurance.

Bilingual Pay: City pays extra $40 per month when second language is used in employment.

Vacation Pay: Accrual for full-time sworn employees: 1-5 yrs: 176 hours; 6-10 yrs: 216; 11-15 yrs: 236 hours; over 15 yrs: 256 hours per year.

Holiday Pay: 9 days + 2 floating days per year are included in the vacation accrual rate.

Sick Leave: Earned at a rate of 12 days per year (96 hours).

Special Assignment Pay: 5% for FTO, Corporal, SWAT, HNT, MAIT, UAV / 7.5% for K-9 Officer, Detective.

Educational Pay: P.O.S.T. Intermediate certificate, associate degree, P.O.S.T. advanced certificate, bachelor degree, and master degree each earn an additional 2.5% of base pay.

Experience Pay: 2.5% for 5 years of service, 2.5% for 10 years of service, 2.5% for 15 years of service, 2.5% for 20 years of service.

Annual Uniform Allowance: $1,100 per year

Take-Home Cars: Officers who live within the city are permitted to take their car home. K-9 officers shall be eligible for a take home vehicle provided they reside within 40 miles of the Porterville Police Department.

Housing Incentive: $10,000
